Specialty Aviation Underwriters, LLC. was established to provide insurance for a unique blend of specialty aircraft in the aviation community. The following are just a few examples of the aircraft we insure.
Warbirds
These include military surplus aircraft both prop driven and jet powered, for example; Boeing Stearman PT-17, North American T-6 and P-51 Mustangs, the Grumman Bearcat, and Yak 52, medium and heavy bombers like the North American B-25, B-17, and B-24. Jet aircraft include the Aero Vodochody L-29 and L-39, Mig 15 and 17, and T-33. We insure the only privatly owned Mig 29.
Antiques, Classics, and Contemporary
Antique aircraft were built between the years of 1903 - 1954. Some examples are the Douglas DC-3, Travel Air, Waco, Taylorcraft, Piper J-3. Classic aircraft would be aircraft built from 1955 - 1960. Some examples of these are Cessna 195, Beech Bonanza, Aeronca Champ, Stinson, Bellanca, and Beech Staggerwing. Contemporary aircraft are aircraft which are a minimum of 25 years old.
Homebuilts
Experimental aircraft that are derived from kits or plans. Among these could be Pitts, Vans, Glasair, and Cassutt.
Non-Standard Risks
This would include contracts where special uses are required. In addition, we also provide coverage for Air Racing, Air Show performers and Aerobatic competitions, and Aircraft Museums.
Ferry Flights
Delivery of aircraft internationally or domestically.
Transition Pilots
Provides coverage for pilots who are transitioning from one type aircraft to another.
